Meet Watson and Holmes
Two sweet Standard Poodle brothers looking for their forever home

Watson and Holmes are handsome cream-colored Standard Poodles, approximately 4 and 5 years old. These bonded brothers are affectionate, intelligent, playful, and wonderfully sweet.

After spending about a month and a half in a local humane society, we brought them home to live with us until we can find their forever home, with the help of Dixie Girl Dog Rescue. They arrived matted, underweight, shy, and with severe ear infections. With veterinary care, grooming, training, and lots of TLC, they have blossomed into happy, healthy boys who are ready for their next chapter.

Watson and Holmes are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.

Why We Love Them

Both boys are incredibly affectionate and love being with their people. They look at you with their big poodle eyes, lean into you for pets, and are always ready for praise and cuddles.

They are:

• ✨ Quick learners who love praise and positive reinforcement training

They are not destructive and enjoy chewing on a good cow ear or bully stick. They also settle nicely when playtime is over and are happy to nap on their beds or in their crates.

Life With Watson & Holmes

These boys have so many wonderful qualities that make them easy to have around the house.

They are completely house-trained and typically do their business outside right away. They both enjoy car rides and will happily jump into the car when the door opens.

They love their crates and will often choose to nap in them when the doors are open. At bedtime, a simple “get in your crate” sends them happily to bed, and they sleep quietly through the night.

In the morning, they are very happy to see their people! Expect lots of tail wags, enthusiastic greetings, and two poodles leaning their entire bodies into you for pets.

They are also wonderful eaters and, now that they are getting regular meals and proper care, should put on the few pounds they need.

Meet Holmes 💙

Holmes is the larger of the two brothers and is our resident toy enthusiast!

He loves carrying soft toys around the house and is absolutely crazy for a ball. A squeaky toy will get his attention in an instant. He loves fetch and tug and is quickly learning his “drop it” cue.

Holmes has a playful, goofy personality, and his perfect day would include plenty of playtime followed by lots of cuddles.

Despite his enthusiasm for play, Holmes settles down quickly and easily when it's time to relax. One of his funniest little quirks is the loud, hilarious groan he makes when he's getting comfortable!

Meet Watson 🩵

Watson is a little calmer than his brother and is proving to be a natural at trick training.

He is very food-motivated and can really focus when there's a good treat involved. He's quickly learning new skills like “touch” and spin and even how to crawl!

Watson will fetch a toy a few times, but he'd usually rather wrestle or chase his brother. He's a fast runner and enthusiastically joins in when invited to play. He is also happy to stand next to us and watch his brother fetch.

At the end of the day, Watson's favorite place is wherever his people are. He loves following his loved ones around the house and would happily spend an afternoon snuggled up on the couch with his human.

Smart Poodle Noodles 🧠

Both boys are intelligent and eager to please, and they are picking up new skills quickly.

They already know basic commands like sit and shake and are learning:

• Leave it

• Look at me

• Down

• Stay

• Touch

• Drop it

• Waiting politely at doorways

• Walking nicely on a leash

We think both boys would have a wonderful time continuing trick training with their new family. They are smart Standard Poodles who enjoy having something to learn…and a treat and some praise make excellent motivation for them!

A Little About Their Manners

Watson and Holmes are very well behaved, but like any foster dogs who are learning and adjusting to a new life, they are still working on a few things.

They can be nervous when first meeting new people or dogs outside of the home. They do best when given a little time to sniff, observe, and settle in. Once they are comfortable, they open right up and show you their true personalities: happy, affectionate, playful boys who want to be part of the family. On the flip side, they are delighted to meet new people who visit our home. They may give an excited bark or two, then they are happy to sit next to you and accept all the pets.

We are currently working on polite leash walking and waiting at doorways. We don’t think they had much practice walking on leashes before, but they are improving everyday (with the help of some turkey hotdogs).

They have made tremendous progress in a short time, and we expect them to continue thriving with a family who will give them patience, consistency, positive reinforcement, and plenty of love.

What Kind of Home Are We Looking For?

Because Watson and Holmes are Standard Poodles, we are hoping to find a family who understands and appreciates the breed and is prepared for the grooming, exercise, and mental stimulation that come with life with two Standard Poodles.

Most importantly, we are looking for a family who will keep these brothers together and give them the loving, stable home they deserve.

A home familiar with Standard Poodles or other Poodle mixes would be wonderful, but what matters most is finding people who will love these boys, continue their training, and make them part of the family.

Watson and Holmes have already been through a lot of change. In foster care, they have learned that people can be kind, that home can be safe, and that there is always time for a good game of fetch or a good cuddle.

They are gentle. They are goofy. They are smart. They are affectionate.

And they have so, so much love to give.

We hope their next chapter is their forever one.
